- 5 ripe red chilies
- 1/3 cup vinegar (white or cider)
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions:
- First, mix water with vinegar as needed so that the total volume becomes one cup. Then add sugar to it and simmer over medium heat until it thickens.
- Cut the garlic and chilies into chunks and blend them in a blender for a few moments. You can strain the mixture if you prefer smoother texture or leave it as is.
- Add the blended mixture to the vinegar solution and mix well. You will get a beautiful aroma of garlic within moments. Reduce the heat.
- In a small bowl, mix cornflour with two tablespoons of water. Then add this cornflour mixture to the sauce. This will thicken the sauce.
- Finally, add salt and ground black pepper to taste. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Simmer until desired consistency is reached. Once the sauce is thick and clear, turn off the heat.
- Let the sweet chili sauce cool down and then store it in a jar in the refrigerator. Voila! In no time, your delicious sauce is ready to serve.
